JAMMU, Aug 28: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today set March 2016 as deadline for the completion of works under Part-B Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) project in Jammu region.
The project envisages modernization of power infrastructure, including improvement of transmission and distribution system.
The Deputy Chief Minister was reviewing the progress of mega projects being executed in Jammu region under various sectors.
While reviewing the status of different components of R-APDRP Part B project, Dr. Nirmal Singh directed the executing agency IRCON to expedite the implementation and complete all works by March 2016. He said the implementation of the project would go a long way in improving power scenario and in containing T&D losses in the state.
He said after the completion of the works under the project, people would also get respite from low voltage.
The Deputy Chief Minister also sought details about the installation of new transformers in various localities of Jammu city under the project.
Chairing another meeting convened to review progress on various projects being executed by ERA, Deputy Chief Minister was told that agency is presently executing 12 projects costing Rs 450 crore, which include 4 Sewerage projects, 5 water supply schemes, 2 drainage projects and Vikram Chowk flyover project.
It was further informed that these projects are likely to be completed by December 2016.
The Assistant General Manager, NBCC informed the Deputy Chief Minister about the progress on Sewerage Network in Old City areas being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.
It was told that the work on main trunk and lateral lines has been completed and testing of the same is in progress.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the status of proposed works being executed by Municipal Committee, Katra for the year 2015-16. For these works the Deputy Chief Minister has provided special grants. He also reviewed other development projects of Katra town, like face-lifting of the holy town, up-gradation of Devi Park. The meeting also discussed the proposal for up-gradation of the Katra Bus stand, including the construction of multi-tier parking.
Dr. Nirmal Singh stressed upon the officers to work with utmost zeal and dedication to complete all these projects in time.
