JAMMU, Feb 6: In the much publicised case relating to ferrying of two terrorists, Special Judge NIA Jammu Subash C Gupta today granted 15 days judicial remand of DySP Devinder Singh, Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah alias Naveed Baba, Irfan Safi Mir, Rafi Ahmed Rather and Syed Irfan Ahmad, all the residents of Shopian.
The application was filed by the Arvind Digvijay Negi, SP NIA, Delhi seeking shifting of accused namely Devinder Singh, Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah, Irfan Shafi Mir, Rafi Ahmed Rather and Syed Irfan Ahmad from police custody to judicial custody for 30 days on remand.
After perusal and consideration of the relevant entries of the CD file, the Special Judge observed, “keeping in view the gravity and heinousness of the crime, the submissions made by the NIA and the stage of the investigation of the case, the court is of the considered opinion that remanding the accused to judicial custody is imperative for completion of the ongoing investigation”.
Accordingly, the court granted 15 days judicial remand of DySP Devinder Singh, Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah alias Naveed Baba, Irfan Safi Mir, Rafi Ahmed Rather and Syed Irfan Ahmad, all the residents of Shopian.
The court ordered that DySP Devinder Singh be lodged in the Sub-Jail Hiranagar and other accused in the Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal.
