JAMMU, Mar 3: The Vigilance Organization has registered an FIR against then Dy SP Ramnagar and a Constable for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh for release of an accused from Police custody.
Verification revealed that the then Dy SP Ramnagar, whose name has been withheld by the Vigilance Organization in its official handout, and Constable Yudhvir Singh, who was reader to the Police Officer, had demanded and accepted Rs 2.2 lakh as illegal gratification from the complainant namely Makhan Lal for release of his son, involved in a suicide case.
In this manner, the aforesaid acts of omissions and commission prima facie establish offence punishable under section 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006, section 161 RPC and accordingly case FIR was registered against the accused for further investigation.
