KATHUA, Sept 21: The e-Rickshaw Union held a protest demonstration in front of DC Office, here today in support of their demand for grant of permission to run the e-Rickshaw smoothly in the town and designation of proper route map for them.
The e-Rickshaw Union was forced to protest when the district administration and Regional Transport Office did not frame any policy and route plan for e-Rickshaws and direct confrontation took place with diesel Auto operators who too plied on same route within the city.
A protestor Devender Singh said that there are 120 e-Rickshaws plying on the Kathua roads for facility of passengers. Moreover e-Rickshaws are also eco friendly and keep environment clean. The petrol and diesel Autos are creating pollution in city. But the District Administration issued a new order and did not allow the e-Rickshaw to ply within city on college road.
In such circumstances it is difficult for e-Rickshaw to earn bread and butter and also borne the installment of financers. They demanded framing of a clear cut policy for e-Rickshaw and designating the route and other legal formalities for them.
