NEW DELHI, Sep 12: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is visiting Geneva, on Thursday met Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
In posts on X, the EAM said:
“Good to meet @volker_turk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva today.
“Shared India’s perspectives on the global Human rights situation and how challenges are best addressed.”
On his meeting with the WHO chief, he posted:
“Delighted to see @DrTedros, DG of World Health Organisation this afternoon. “Discussed our cooperation in WHO including on traditional medicine and public health,” in reference to the WHO global centre for traditional medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, set up in March 2022.
Earlier, he began his visit to Geneva by paying homage at a bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
“Started my visit to Geneva by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
“In a world of polarisation and conflict, Bapu’s message of harmony and sustainability is more relevant than ever.”
The EAM is on an official visit to Geneva, Switzerland, from September 12-13. Geneva is home to a large number of UN bodies and international organizations.
During the visit, EAM will also meet Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to review the close partnership between the two countries and explore avenues to enhance the bilateral relationship further.(UNI )
