DRASS, (Kargil), Nov 15: Executive Councillor for Works and Power Mubarak Shah Nagvi who is also the Councillor of Drass constituency flagged off a 53 seater bus service for the students of Government Degree College (GDC) Drass during a function held in the college premises here on Saturday. The bus has been recently purchased under the District Plan.
Principal GDC Drass, Dr. Amjad Ali, Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Drass, Khursheed Ahmad, Assistant Professors and Lecturers of GDC and GHSS Drass besides other officers, staff members and students were present on the occasion.
In his address EC Mubarak Shah while congratulating the students of the college for starting the bus facility expressed optimism that it will prove helpful in saving their travel time to and from the college.
The EC directed the Principal GDC Drass to run the bus service on the Lower Drass (Bhimbhat area) as well as the Mushkow route for the students of this area who have thin transport facilities as this area falls far away from the National Highway-1.
As regards to the transport facilities for the students of Lower Drass including Thasgam, Chokiyal, Bhimbhat, Gindiyal etc. pursuing studies at GDC Drass who remain un-accommodated in the college bus , Mubarak Shah assured that they will be accommodated free of cost on the SRTC bus service which ply on the National Highway-1 from Drass to Kargil and Kargil to Drass, adding that he will bear all expenses of the bus fare of these students.
EC Mubarak Shah also said that a proposal is also in the pipeline to purchase one more bus to GDC Drass in order to provide transport facilities for the students of Mushkow area which is expected to materialize soon.
Meanwhile, the general public of Drass including students have expressed gratitude to EC for his support and coordination towards students’ welfare.
