JAMMU : Election Commission today reviewed preparations for Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and said security of people should be the paramount factor during the polls.
“The security of people should be the paramount factor during the elections,” Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi, who is on a 2-day visit to Jammu, said.
He interacted with the six District Election Officers (DEOs) of Kashmir Valley and one from Jammu division through video conferencing regarding the preparations for the first and second phases.
He directed the DEOs to ensure all necessary arrangements for free and fair polling.
The Deputy Election Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the preparations in these districts.
Zutshi received detailed brief on the steps taken for the smooth conduct of polls from the DEOs of Leh, Kargil, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, Kulgam and Poonch.
The Chief Electoral Officer also briefed Zutshi about the measures initiated to meet all the challenges for smooth conduct of first and second phases of elections.
The State will have a five-phase polling between November 25 and December 20. (AGENCIES)
