CHENNAI, Feb 26 : Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday said the Election Commission of India will always stand with the voters.
Talking to reporters in Madurai, after a review meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik, District Election Officer M.S. Sangeetha and senior police officials, he said the
first step towards national service is voting.
All the citizens of India who have completed 18 years of age should become electors and should always vote, he said, and lauded the Election officials in the district for doing a good work.
Mr Gyanesh Kumar along with his wife later offered prayers at the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple and later reached Ramanathapuram for a review meeting, after which he visited former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam National Memorial at Peikarumbu near Rameswaram and also offered prayers at the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple.
Later, he said the meetings went on well.
