DODA, Nov 2: While assuring jobs to the unemployed educated, skilled and semi-skilled youth of the Jammu and Kashmir, former J&K Chief Minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that economic potential of Chenab region and several other areas of JKUT has remained untapped.
Azad said it was during his tenure that the Chenab region was connected with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir after he built the road connectivity and created economic opportunities for the people.
“Unfortunately, economic potential of the region has remained untapped due to poor governance and misplaced economic policies due to which the common people and educated, and skilled/semi-skilled youth are suffering,” Azad said while addressing a large public meeting at Goha in Marmat area of district Doda today.
He said his party will strive for economic empowerment of people and for that he will continue to work since the agenda of DPAP is to remove the miseries of common people and bring back smile on their faces, specially the unemployed youth.
The Former Chief Minister said massive hydel power potential of entire Chenab belt has remained untapped. This region has huge potential to generate surplus electricity and bring prosperity in the JKUT. “If focused properly, only this sector may open flood gates of job opportunities for our unemployed educated, skilled and semi-skilled youth,” he maintained.
Azad said that it is only his party that holds public programmes across the Jammu and Kashmir since people have reposed faith and trust in it. ” I assure you, I will bring back smile on your faces that you lost due to governance deficit. Your economy will improve and no one will be jobless since the developmental works will start in triple-shifts again if DPAP comes to power,” Azad asserted.
“When I talk to you today, I speak with confidence since I have countless projects to recount I sanctioned and executed for the people of Chenab valley. No other political party or leader can speak to you with this confidence since they only exploited people for the votes,” he added.
Azad promised his workers that once he is back to power, he will ensure more job opportunities are created and no one from this hilly region is forced to migrate for employment purposes.
“I have some more projects envisioned for this region and with the support of people, if elected to power, I will immediately start working on those projects ” he assured.
Azad further said that politics cannot serve people which has a communal and divisive agenda. He said entire Chenab region is known for its secular values and brotherhood. He said this brotherhood and unity deserves an appreciation and people must retain it in all the times.
The DPAP leader stressed for intensive meetings and public outreach among his workers and directed them to hold corner meetings and explain the agenda of party to everyone. ” We need to reach out to the people and explain them our party agenda, so that more and more people are ready to join our mission,” Azad said adding that DPAP is getting stronger day by day.
