JAMMU, Apr 1: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that the Government has launched extensive road connectivity programme in the State to spur economic growth.
The Speaker said this after inaugurating link road connecting Azad Nagar with Satwari, constructed at a cost of Rs 4.70 lakh in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
The road has been constructed by the Rural Development Department and includes black-topping of 500 meters of the road. The funds were made available by the Speaker from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that better road connectivity is co-related with development as it promotes access to economic and social services. He said the Government is committed to provide all basic facilities including better connectivity to the people of the State for which massive road projects have been taken up.
Later, the Speaker visited ongoing developmental works at Chattha and asked the officers to expedite the work to complete it in stipulated time frame.
Various deputations called on the Speaker en-route and apprised him about various problems confronting them in day to day life. The Speaker gave patient hearing to them and assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into on priority.
SDM South Sonu Pargal, BDO Satwari, Arun Khajuria besides other officers of the concerned departments accompanied the Speaker.
