ED registers case in Banihal narcotics recovery

JAMMU, Dec 6: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jammu has registered case against narcotics smugglers namely Sarbjit Singh S/o Parduman Singh R/o Village Ballan Kartarpur Jalandhar Rural Punjab and Honey Basra S/o Harmesh Lal R/o Mohalla Palahi Gate Phagwara City Kapurthala Punjab for illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The Enforcement Directorate ECIR is based on FIR No. 242/2023 of P/s Banihal district Ramban J&K against two accused persons by police authorities.
It is revealed in the FIR that while performing patrolling, Naka and traffic checking duty the patrolling party established a surprise naka at a railway chowk where one white colour vehicle INNOVA bearing registration No. HR12W-4925 which was on its way from Kashmir side towards Banihal reached near naka point and spotted the police party and stopped the vehicle about 100 meters before Naka.
The police party chased both persons and caught hold of them and on search recovered 30 packets of about 1/1 kg of banned contraband Heroine like substance packed in black and white colour polythene were recovered from dashboard of said vehicle.
That the offence under PMLA is schedule offence and taken up under PMLA investigation. It is pertinent to mention here that proceeds of Crime generated and projected untainted properties will be taken for attachment during the course of investigation.
It is revealed during police investigation of P/S Banihal that on 10.10.2023 a search was conducted at Mullanpur Dakha, Ludhiana by J&K Police with assistance of Punjab Police wherein Manjeet Singh S/o Satnam Singh was arrested and Rs 4.94 crore cash was seized along with 44 gm gold and so on.
