JAMMU, May 30: Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB) has set a target of opening 25 new business units, 32 ATMs and 8 more ATMs in collaboration with its sponsor bank, State Bank of India (SBI) during the current financial year (2014-15).
This was disclosed by A K Razdan, Chairman, EDB, at a review meeting held at the Head Office of the Bank. The chairman said that their structured efforts have bore results and EDB was emerging one of the leading banking services provider in J&K.
The chairman disclosed said that a special drive for KCC disbursement and SME disbursement to farmers is being organized on May 30 and 31, 2014 at all rural and semi urban business units of the bank.
EDB is the only local bank to issue KCC ATM cards to the farmers who can draw the amount at any centre for the purchase of fertilizers, pesticide and other relevant material from the market at competitive price, he maintained.
He further revealed that the bank has devised tailor made credit products for the un-employed youth and emphasized upon the youth to come forward to take advantage of the schemes available with the bank.
The chairman said that the expansion of banking services in the un-banked areas is in the top of the priority list of Government of India, adding these business units will be opened with all the modern banking facilities in CBS platform.
The Bank has also formulated a short term plan for growth and the recruitment of staff and a massive drive is being contemplated according to the needs, he added.
