LOS ANGELES, July 27: Director Edgar Wright will adapt the young adult novel ‘Grasshopper Jungle’ for the big screen.
The filmmaker’s attachment to ‘Grasshopper Jungle’ comes two months after dropping out as the director of Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ in May, reported The Wrap.
A screenplay for Grasshopper Jungle is being written by Scott Rosenberg (‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’).
The novel centres on an Iowa teenager who unleashes a swarm of human-sized praying mantises to wreak havoc on the local population.
Wright is also developing Baby Driver, a comedy that is said to be similar in tone to his Cornetto trilogy of ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘The World’s End’.
There have also been suggestions that he could revive his and Johnny Depp’s long-dormant project ‘Kolchak: The Night Stalker’. (PTI)
