Tribute paid to Masud Choudhary

JAMMU, Dec 16: Former Chief Minister of J&K and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today said that education is the big equalizer for raising living standard and development of any community.
While paying tribute to Dr Masud Choudhary, on his Ist death anniversary in a function organised by the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, a premier social organization of Gujjars & Bakerwals of J&K, she said for raising living standard of any community and its development, education is big equalizer.
She said her father, Mufti Mohd Sayeed always stressed for education and Dr Masud Choudhary also focused on the education of the children not only of his community but the whole society. She referred to his contribution in the field of education and said that by raising University at Rajouri and schools, Dr Masud Choudhary played great role.
While referring to the demand of inclusion of Gojri language in 8th Schedule, she said she supports the cause but would like to advise people to speak this language at home and also encourage their children to speak while at home and in the community gathering.
Meanwhile, several prominent people and others paid tributes to Dr Masud Ahmed Choudhary founder of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust and its allied institutions including Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, who passed away on December 16, 2022. People belonging to different walks of life participated in the programme and paid rich tributes to Dr Choudhary for his contributions in the field of education particularly, for Gujjar & Bakerwal Tribals.
The Trustees, family members, Principal Radhu Gupta along with students and staff and other prominent persons of Civil Society offered floral tributes and and Fateha at his grave adjacent to GDCT.
The programme began with the recitation of Tilawat-e-Quran. Abdul Hamid Choudhary presided over the programme. Chairman of Trust welcome all the participants. General Secretary of Trust M.S. Chouhan and Zulkarnain Advocate conducted the proceedings.
Shah Mohd Chowdhary Advocate Chairman of Trust uprised the participants about the achievements of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust during the lifetime of Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary and after his demised. Chairman assured the participants that the Trust will continue its efforts in achieving the future goals laid down by Dr Masud Choudhary which includes, establishment of Tribal University, Tribal Women College, Coaching Centre for Civil Services, Nursing College, Skill Development Institutions, to make efforts for inclusion of Gojri Language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, preserving the rich heritage, culture and Gojri Language, to make endeavours for protection of social, economic, educational, cultural, linguistic identity & other constitutional rights of Tribals of Jammu and Kashmir and also to organize seminars on the life and achievements of Late Dr Masud Choudhary and opening of a unit Brig. Khuda Baksh Hr. Sec. School in Kashmir Valley and in Pir Panjal Region, expansion of Sardar Patel Boys Hostel and to set up Primary Schools in Gujjar Bakerwal-areas.
Documentary on life and works of Masud Choudhary was prepared & edited by Dr Javed Rahi Chief Editor, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu.
Students of Brig Khuda Baksh Memorial Public Hr. Sec. School presented rich tributes to Baba e Qoum Dr Masud Choudhary.
On the occasion Mehbooba Mufti and others also released a special number of Nawa-e-Quam, a weekly Urdu Newspaper on Masud Choudhary’s Life and Contributions published by Ch Salam Din Bajad Trustee and Former Deputy Director General Door Darshan. A book titled Hayat Wa Khidmaat on Dr. Masud A Choudhary written by Liakat Ali Choudhary was also released.
Several prominent people including Taj Mohi-ud-Din former Minister and Trustee, Dr. Ashok Kumar Bhan former DGP, Javed Ahmed Rana former MLA, Zulfikar Ali former Minister, Davinder Singh Rana former MLA, Aslam Qureshi (Retd IAS), Khalid Hussain renowned Punjabi Writer, Khalil Ahmed Poswal Trustee, Mubassir Latifi (SSP), Bashir Ahmed Khatana and others also spoke on the occasion.
