Education must for progress, dev of people: Hassan Khan

KARGIL, Sept 17: Member Parliament, Kacho Hassan Khan today urged people to empower themselves with information and education about various socio-economic development programmes being implemented by both State and Central Governments. He said that programmes like Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign have revolutionized the country and proved to be an effective tool to reach out to the people with information about welfare schemes in rural and far flung areas like Kargil.
He was speaking on the 2nd day of the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign underway here since September 16.
Mr. Khan expressed hope that PICs provide opportunity to the people to have direct communication with the departments & agencies implementing these schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Fida Hussain said that Kargil has achieved 76% literacy rate due to SSA, MDM, RMSA & Right to Education (RTE) programmes under implementation in the district. He called for organizing such programmes in the district in future also.
Mr. Khan & Mr. Hussain also inspected the stalls put up at the venue of the campaign and expressed their happiness over participation of large number of State & Central Government departments in the campaign which helped them to reach out to the common people.
Earlier, the Member Parliament & Deputy Commissioner flagged off a student rally consisting of around 1200 students from six educational zones of the district, from the TFC Baroo which after passing through main bazaars culminated at the venue of the campaign.
