Educational institutes celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: India’s 77th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional patriotic fervour and enthusiasm amid hoisting of National Flag and presentation of colourful cultural programmes in various educational institutes across Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu University celebrated the occasion by organizing an impressive function on the campus wherein Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai hoisted the National Flag and saluted the valour, vision, steadfastness and supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters. On the occasion, the Guard of Honour was presented to the Vice Chancellor by the University Security contingent while colourful cultural items were presented also presented. All Deans, HoDs and the University officers were present on the occasion.
The University of Kashmir hoisted the national flag at the main and satellite campuses with full honour and respect to celebrate the Independence Day. Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan led the flag-hoisting ceremony at the main campus. A ceremonial guard of honour was also presented on the occasion by a contingent of university police. Post the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor led all the participants to the grand ceremony scheduled at the Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar. The varsity’s satellite campuses at Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara also celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervour.
Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof A Ravinder Nath hoisted the National Flag during the Independence Day celebration function organised at varsity’s Tulmulla Campus. The celebrations were also held simultaneously across other campuses including Green Campus, Science Campus Nuner and Arts Campus.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor BGSBU received the guard of honour and hoisted the National Flag. A Tiranga rally was also organised on the campus which was led by the Vice Chancellor. On the occasion, all the important buildings of the University including Vice Chancellor’s residence were illuminated with tricolour. A multilingual mushaira was also organised after the flag hoisting ceremony on the campus.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated the Independence Day with a resounding display of patriotism and an inspiring vision for the nation’s future. The ceremony featured a flag hoisting by Director Prof. Sudhakar Yedla, followed by a series of cultural performances and a meaningful fancy dress exhibition. Registrar Prof Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Deans, HODs, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion. It was followed by a grand parade by the security wing and NCC’s girl’s unit of the institute.
Central University of Jammu celebrated 77th Independence Day during which Vice Chancellor Professor Sanjeev Jain hoisted the national flag. Following that, a grand celebration was organised in the university’s Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium with patriotic songs and other items by the students of NCC wing of CUJ.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Prof Pragati Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, hoisted the tricolour flag. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of administrative staff, faculty members, and students. The celebration featured captivating performances by students, accompanied by the distribution of sweets to commemorate the occasion. A noteworthy addition to the festivities was the launch of the newly designed SMVDU website (www.smvdu.ac.in).
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great fanfare and fervour. Prof B N Tripathi, Vice- Chancellor, hoisted the National Flag and announced new initiatives like starting Faculty Development Cell, Technology Management and IPR Cell, Community Radio Station, University Sale Outlet and Pet Clinic. Cultural programme was also organized to commemorate the national festival of the nation. All the statutory officers of the University, Head of the Divisions, Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students attended the Independence Day celebrations.
Cluster University of Jammu celebrated Independence Day by organizing an impressive function wherein Prof Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor of the University, hoisted the National Flag. The event was a grand success and enthusiastically attended by large number of students including NCC Cadets, Deans, Principals of the Constituent Colleges, Associate Deans and NCC Co-ordinator& ANOs of Cluster University of Jammu. The programme concluded with a live performance of patriotic songs by the students of Cluster University of Jammu.
IIM Jammu celebrated the glorious 77 years if Indian Independence as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event commenced with the hoisting of National Flag by Director IIM Jammu, Prof B S Sahay. This was flowed by enrapturing cultural event consisting of skits, song, poetry, speeches and dances performances.
KVK Reasi, under the aegis of SKUAST Jammu, celebrated Independence Day with great fervor. The programme was inaugurated by DDC Katra, Nirmla Devi, who hoisted the National Flag and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters.
Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu celebrated 77th Independence Day at its premises. Prof Anil Kumar Saumitra, Regional Director hoisted the National Flag. This function was moderated by Dr Vinit Utpal and organized by Dr Dilip Kumar.
Reasi Campus of Jammu University celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. National Flag was hoisted by Prof Sushil K Pandey, Director of the Reasi Campus. On the occasion, students presented cultural items.
The Bhaderwah Campus of Jammu University came together with the Indian Army to celebrate the Independence Day. The programme commenced with a ceremonial flag hoisting by Col Yogesh Chauhan, Commanding Officer of 4-RR and Dr Jatinder Manhas, HoD Computer Science, Bhaderwah Campus.
Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated Independence Day on the theme of Meri Maati Mera Desh-Mitti ko Naman Veeron Ka Vandan by organizing a function on its campus at Janglote, Kathua wherein Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus was the chief guest.
Similar programmes and flag hoisting ceremonies were held at the Jammu University’s Udhampur Campus and Poonch Campus. Prof Yash Pal Sharma hoisted the National Flag at Udhampur Campus while in Poonch Campus, Prof Rakesh Vaid hoisted the National Flag.
Govt College for Women Parade Ground Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great fervour under the supervision of Principal of the college, Dr S P Sarswat, who hoisted the National Flag. NSS volunteers of the college collected the samples of Mati from their respective places and made a memoir of the same on the college campus under Amrit Vatika.
At Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur, Independence Day was celebrated by saluting and hoisting Tricolur and paying tributes to the frontline leaders under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Principal Prof Anjali Mahajan hoisted the National Flag and took salute. Besides, Department of Music organized a scintillating cultural programme
Delicate dreams of future, passionate memories of the glorious past and resilient hopes for a new India marked the Independence Day celebration in Model Academy. The occasion was graced by Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER as the chief guest and she hoisted the National Flag. Govt. College of Engineering & Technology Jammu saluted the Nation and its freedom fighters on the occasion of 77th Independence Day. The staff and students of GCET marked the occasion by hoisting National Flag by Principal of the college, Prof Sameru Sharma. All the HODs and senior faculties from all the branches and staff were the part of this wonderful event. A beautiful patriotic poem was also sung by Er Niraj Dubey on the occasion.
GCW Gandhinagar celebrates Independence Day in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Ashu Gupta, Director Planning , Dept. of Higher Education, Govt of J&K was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Principal Minu Mahajan and staff. Govt Polytechnic for women, Jammu celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervor and zeal. The National flag was hoisted by Er Suket Gupta, Principal of the Institution. Students and Staff members actively participated in the function and sung patriotic songs.
Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu celebrated Independence day with great joy, fervour and enthusiasm in the college. On this occasion, Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college, hoisted the National Flag and threw light on the significance of this great day. Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi celebrated Independence Day amid hoisting of the National Flag by Principal, Dr Kulvinder Kour. The day long activities ended with the conduct of the “Panch Pran Pledge” in which more than 150 students and staff members participated.

Government Degree College, R.S. Pura celebrated Independence Day as a part of Meri Maati, Mera Desh under the aegis of IQAC and guidance of the Principal of the college, Prof Rajni Bhagat, who hoisted the National Fla. The event marked presentation of a cultural programme.

DIET Jammu celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. The Principal DIET Jammu Nand Kishor hoisted the National flag followed by singing of National Anthem. The Principal and staff also took Punch Pran Pledge for national integration and development of Nation. To mark the occasion a rally was taken off by all the faculty member of DIET Jammu.
J&K Police Public Schools, established at Jammu, Srinagar, Rajouri, Doda, Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara, running under the aegis of J&K Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) joined the nation in celebrating the 77th Independence Day with patriotic fervour. The celebrations began early in the morning with the hoisting of the National Flag at each School campus. Colourful programmes, which included singing of patriotic songs and delivering lectures by Principals and students highlighting the significance of the Independence Day, were also presented.
Govt Hr Sec School Treva Zone-Arnia celebrated Independence Day around the theme “Nation First, Always First” with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Principal Sapna Suri hoisted the National Flag and the function was attended by prominent locals, staff members, students & others.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Reasi celebrated the Independence Day with unprecedented enthusiasm. The JNV campus was decorated with multicolor flags and tricolours. Principal JNV Reasi Romesh Chander hoisted the national flag and M K Anand, Block Officer Forest Department Reasi was guest of honour. After the flag hoisting and march past, a galaxy of cultural programmes was presented by the students.
Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at Rich Harvest School. The school was beautifully decorated with tricolor balloons and flags Chief guest Th Gulchain Singh Charak, accompanied by the School Manager Gambhir Dev Singh Charak hoisted the National Flag. The students performed a medley of heart touching patriotic songs. This was followed by the dance performance.

Government High School Kotli Tanda celebrated Independence Day by organizing an impressive and colourful function. The School Headmaster, Nasib Singh hoisted the National Flag and honoured the prominent persons, who have been contributing for development and growth of the school. Students presented cultural items and sweets were distributed among all the participants.
Govt High School Moud Zone Jib (Udhampur) celebrated Independence Day under the chairmanship of Bhushan Lal, the Headmaster of the school, who hoisted the Tri-colour Flag in the presence of staff members, President Youth Club Moud and Panchayat members of Moud. The students presented colorful cultural items which became the centre of attraction.
BSF School Jammu celebrated Independence Day in its premises. IG BSF Jammu FTR D K Boora was the chief guest on the occasion. DIG/PSO Vijay Kumar Thapliyal, DIG Prov./ Administrator Prabhakar Joshi and other officers of the Force were also present on the occasion. IG BSF Jammu Frontier D K Boora hoisted the National Flag and inspired the young minds to contribute positively to the growth and progress of the nation.
Govt Sri Ranbir Model Hr Sec School celebrated the Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and zeal. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by school Principal Anjali Gupta.
Little Buds Public School Krishna Nagar Canal Road celebrated Independence day in its premises with great fervor. The chief guest on this occasion was Usha Anand, President Women Welfare Organization and a social activist, who hoisted the National Flag. On the occasion of Independence Day celebration, BJP leader and Member DDC Suresh Sharma hoisted the national flag at Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya Jammu-2 Nardi Bala, situated in block and tehsil Maira Mandrian. On this occasion, D D Sharma, Assistant Commissioner; Aabha Gupta, Principal JNV Nardi Bala and others were present on the occasion.
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in Govt Middle School Lower Gandala (Udhampur). On this occasion, the Headmaster of the school, Madhu Balla hoisted the tricolour in the presence of prominent locals while the students delivered speeches and presented patriotic songs.

The school Principal Rameshwar Mengi along with CA Hitesh Mahajan (alumnus of the school) hoisted the National Flag. Later, students presented cultural items.
At Government Higher Secondary School Devak, Sunderbani, Tehsildar Kapil Kant Khajuria hoisted the National Flag. The School Principal Subash Chander and Sarpanch Bodh Raj accompanied the Tehsildar while the students presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
The student and staff of Shri Mahavir Jain Hr Sec School Jammu celebrated Independence day in the school premises. Tricolour was hoisted by the President of Jain Educational Trust Ramneek Jain who was the chief guest along with Gen secretary Sunil Jain . The student presented a captivating cultural bonanza focused on patriotism.
77th Independence Day was celebrated in Hermann Gmeiner School Jammu with great fervour and enthusiasm. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag followed by playing of the National Anthem. A spectacular NCC drill was performed by NCC boys and girls of the school.
Tiny tots of Rich Heritage School undertook a pride march along with their class teachers in Bakshi Nagar marking the Independence Day celebrations at the school. Draped in saffron, white and green, the children waved their little tricolours across the streets and chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai fervently. The school principal, Mira Amla explained how love for the motherland ought to be seeded in young minds right from the start.
Week long patriotic events at B N Higher Secondary School Sunjwan Jammu concluded with the celebration of Independence Day. Students and staff actively participated in the celebration programme. The school Principal, Aasiya Shabir Banday highlighted importance of the day.
Kotwal National Institute of Teaching (KNIT), Bharat Nagar, celebrated Independence Day by organizing a rainbow cultural programme. Prof J L Kotwal, Director of the school along with Principal Bimla Blawria hoisted the National Flag.
Government Higher Secondary School Camp Bohri, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour in its school premises. Principal of the Institution, Sanjogta Pandita hoisted the National Flag while students presented a variety of cultural items. Rajesh Dhar, Lecturer Physical Education, presented the welcome address, while Meenakshi Koul delivered the vote of thanks.
National Flag was hoisted at Government middle School, Old Janipur Jammu on the occasion of Independence Day the school Incharge, Neelam Parihar along with VED members hoisted the flag after which students presented cultural items.
National Flag was hoisted at Middle School Chigli Katwalt by PRI Member Charn Dass in the presence of locals and teachers and students.
At Government High School Katal Batal, Nagrota, students presented a colourful cultural programme while Naib Tehsildar Katal Batal, Yash Pal Sharma hoisted the National Flag. Anil Bhat, Regional Head of Bharti Airtel Foundation was the special guest while Headmaster Niaz Kouser presided over the function.
Government Polytechnic College, Kathua celebrated 77th Independence Day with great joy, fervour and enthusiasm in the college. On this occasion, Manish Kumar , HoD of college hoisted the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem and threw light on the significance of this great day.
Standard Institute of Education, 77th Independence Day, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a Red Letter Day in the history of India. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony is celebrated with great zeal, fervor and enthusiasm in its premises at Dhar Road,Udhampur. Sanmati Vimal Jain Academy, celebrated 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The celebrations began with unfurling of Tri-color by Principal Manvi Raina. Thereafter, a beautiful patriotic dance-cum-skit was presented by the students. A beautiful dance by Primary Wing students was also present.
New Modern Academy Chak Rakwala, celebrated 77th Independence Day in the school campus with great zeal. Tri-colour was unfurled by vice Principal Shemim Akhter. The student presented a captivating cultural bonanza focused on patriotism.
Government Middle school, Dudial zone, Udhampur, 77th Independence Day celebrated in the premises of the school, Mohd. Panch, Rajinder Kumar Headmaster unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. Students of the school presented an impressive March Past, Bhartiyam and colourful programme. Headmaster of the school also highlighted the importance of the day.
Independence Day was celebrated at Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School, Himmat where B D Sharma, retired IAS officer hoisted the National Flag. This school is run by Sawera, NGO where about 400 children of building construction workers are being imparted education free of cost.
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in the Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab, Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by Prof B L Zutshi, Prof Rawal, executive body members of HESK. Satish Talashi, Principal GMCEJ, welcome the guests and highlighted the achievement of the college.
Management, Staff and students of Raina HSS, Chak-Seri (Bhalwal celebrated 77th Independence Day with patriotic cultural programmes. Mohit Raina hoisted the National Flag and delivered speech on the importance of the Day and about the sacrifices of our countrymen in the struggle of achieving freedom. Sweets were distributed among the staff and the students.
National Flag was hoisted in Raina Higher Secondary School, Paloura on Independence Day. Ravind Raina hoisted the National Flag and instructed the students to work hard to come up to the expectations of their parents and country.

Independence Day was celebrated in Sant Mela Singh College of Education, Digiana, Jammu wherein chief guest Prof S P S Dutta(Prof Emeritus , University of Jammu) hoisted the Flag in the presence of Principal, staff, students and members of management committee. The Principal of the college Dr Kiran Luthra also addressed the gathering.
Independence Day celebrated in the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kandoli Nagrota with great Enthusiasm. Chairman BDC Nagrota, Rehmat Ali hoisted the National Flag in the presence of the heads of the different department of the tehsil, Nagrota. Babu Ram Choudhary, Tehsildar, Nagrota and other dignitaries of the locality were present along with Sudha Kumari, Principal Government Girls Model H S S Kandoli, Nagrota.
The day was celebrated in Government Higher Secondary School Camp Jagti. Principals Suman Lata Khazanchi and Sanjeev Kumar Pandita hoisted the National Flag in presence of Staff members and students. Students and guests were served refreshment after culmination of programme.
A function to celebrate 77th Independence Day was held in Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gandhi Nagar, Principal Adharsh Sharma hoisted National Flag followed by National Anthem by the staff and students of the school.
Government Higher Secondary School Gurha Slathian Samba celebrated 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm in its premises. Principal Arti Gupta, DDC member Sudarshan Singh Slathia and Sarpanch Jatinder Singh Slathia hoisted the National Flag and addressed the students. At the end of the program prizes were distributed and refreshment was given to staff and students.
On the occasion of Independence Day, ABVP Jammu Mahanagar organized an impressive Tiranga Bike Rally. The event kicked off at the Vidyarthi Bhawan, the State office of ABVP JK Trikuta Yatri Niwas Amphala, and concluded at Balidan Stamb, Jammu. Participants sang the national anthem and reaffirmed their commitment to a united and progressive India.
