Educational institutions celebrate Baisakhi, Dr Ambedkar’s Jayanti

JAMMU, Apr 13: Various educational institutions celebrated Baisakhi festival and Dr BR Ambedkar’s Jayanti.
GD Goenka Public School, Jammu organised Baisakhi celebrations. The programme started with Baisakhi greetings and the students highlighted on the life and works of Bhim Rao Ambedkar who framed the constitution of India. Students presented a skit on Gandhian philosophy of Oneness-Unity in Diversity. A colourful bonanza of Punjabi dances, Bhangra and Gidda and the traditional ‘Jago’ a popular folk dance of Punjab was performed by the young damsels celebrating the Joy and happiness of harvest season. The highlight of the programme was a solo dance performance of Vridhi, class II student. Principal Dr RP Singh was also present on the occasion.
The students and the staff of KC International School celebrated BR Ambedkar’s Jayanti and Baisakhi with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was held to mark the occasion. Floral tribute was paid to the father of the Indian constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar. The celebration began with a group song followed by a speech explaining the significance of the day. Vice-Principal, Isaac Daniel in his speech emphasized on the significance of Dr Ambedkar Day.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar celebrates Baisakhi festival. On the occasion, Managing Director Gambhir Dev Singh Charak was also present. Principal Devinder Kour, Principal threw light on the importance of the day. Nirmala Koul, Vice Principal also expressed her views. Colourful cultural programme was presented by the students.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Bohri celebrated Baisakhi festival. The students of primary wing attired in colourful dresses participated whole heartedly in the dance competition. Demo was given by the teachers and the students of high wing delivered speech on the occasion.
May Fair Higher Secondary School celebrated Baisakhi in Chand Nagar and Janipur branches. A cultural programme was organised in which kids from different classes attired in Punjabi dresses performed on latest Punjabi songs. Chairperson, May Fair Schools Vijay Kumar Basur presided over the function. Lalita Chadha, Administrator May Fair Schools along with Harleen Kour, Coordinator, co-curricular activities were also present on the occasion along with other staff members.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrates Baisakhi festival and Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti with full enthusiasm. Students participated in various activities including Bhangra dance, creative writing, art and craft and colouring. Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima motivated the students to celebrate the festival while keeping in mind the spirit and the importance of this great day. She also highlighted the great work done by Dr Ambedkar for the nation.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary, Jeevan Nagar organized inter house rangoli competition to celebrate Baisakhi festival. The judges of the competition were Jasbir Kour, Jagmeet, Sonia and Monika. Amar House won the competition. Principal Rameshwar Mengi highlighted the importance of the day.
NGM Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib celebrated Baisakhi with full enthusiasm and gaiety. A colourful cultural programme was organized by the students. Events like Giddha and Bhangra were presented by the students. A kite making competition was organized for the students of Primary Wing on the occasion. Principal Brijesh Gupta delivered speech on the importance of the day. At last, the participants were rewarded by the Director of the school Deepika Mahajan.
Guru Harkrishan Public School Nanak Nagar celebrated Baisakhi festival. The programme commenced with auspicious Shabad Kirtan in School’s Gurdwara followed by captivating cultural programme in the auditorium of the school. Students attired in colourful dresses and in cheerful mood made the day pleasant and worthwhile. The beats of Dhol charged the atmosphere that forced everyone to tap their feet on Bhangra beats. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the School Rita Popli threw light on the importance of the day and its historical significance. Later, Turban tying and Gatka competitions were held in which students took part with exemplary zeal and excitement.
New Era School, Circular Road organized a scintillating function to celebrate the ‘Festival of Harvest’. Children attired in traditional outfits presented various cultural items. BJP MLA from Jammu East constituency Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest. Rajesh Gupta was accompanied by his wife, Anu Gupta, an alumnus of the school. The evening began with the ceremonial lamp lighting followed by floral tributes to late Dr DK Jain, Founder Trustee of the school. Maitree Jain, secretary of the school, MD and Principal New Era Public School Prabha Jain, TD Sharma, Sudesh Mahajan, LD Shastri, VK Gandotra, Kulbhushan Anand, DS Jamwal and staff members were also present. Prizes were given to the children who brought laurels the different activities organized by different organizations.
Stephens International Public School celebrated Baisakhi festival with great fervour and gaiety. The students put up a colourful cultural bonanza depicting the importance of the harvesting festival. A bhangara full of zest and enthusiasm mesmerized everyone present on the occasion. Children in colourful attire performed cultural items showing various aspects of the north India’s most celebrated festival. Principal Satvinder Saini and Vice Principal Rama Jamwal threw light on the importance of the day.
Baisakhi festival was celebrated in Luthra Public School and Shemrock Angels. The programme started with the assembly of school students in which importance of the festival was highlighted. Bhangra dance was performed by students on this occasion. Principal of the school highlighted the importance of the day.
Baisakhi festival was celebrated at Rainbow Public School, Rampura, Gandhi Nagar. President, BJP Women Wing, Rekha was the chief guest, while as Chairman of the institution KK Khajuria, Principal Suman Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, MK Wadhera and staff members were also present. Students presented cultural programme on the occasion.
Elite Public High School celebrated Baisakhi festival. A special morning assembly was organized in which the school choir explained about the importance of the day. Vice Principal Kiran Durani also highlighted the importance of the festival.
KIDZEE, a play way school celebrated Baisakhi festival at its branches at Anand Nagar, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat with great enthusiasm. The small kids attired in colourful dresses participated whole heartedly in the Bhangra dance organized by the school. Demo was given on the occasion to make the kids aware about the importance of festivals in our life.
Students of Indira Kids Playway School, Janipur celebrated Baisakhi festival. Students presented various cultural items on the occasion. Principal Ashu Padha and staff members were also present.
Daffodils Care Convent Pre School Channi Himmat and Jain Bazar celebrated Baisakhi festival with great pomp and show. Children were looking like real farmers in the get of peasants. The voice of dhol encouraged each and every one to dance to the tunes of Punjabi Folk Dance–Bhangra. Children presented variety of colorful cultural programme. The main attraction of the show was the plantation of trees by the little ones. Principal and Managing Director also planted the saplings along with the parents of the students.
DIS celebrated Baisakhi with great fervor. The chief guest on the occasion was Abdul Gani Kohli, Minister of State for Transport. He was accompanied by Saif-ud-Din Bhatt MLC. The students presented various cultural items depicting the Baisakhi celebration. Chairman GN Tantray was also present on the occasion.
Little Champs Playway School, New Plot celebrated Baisakhi festival. The students of the school participated in the function with full zeal and zest in the traditional, Punjabi and fancy dresses. Children presented Bhangra to the live Dhol beats and had fun throughout the day. Principal of the school Sonal Abrol apprised the students about the relevance and importance of celebrating this day. Capt Vinay Abrol, Chairperson of the institution also attended the function and conveyed his best wishes to the students, parents and staff of the school.
Silverspoon Playway and Kindergarten, Ashok Nagar, Satwari, celebrated Baisakhi with full enthusiasm and gaiety. A colourful cultural programme was organized by the students in the school premises. Principal Deepika Mahajan in her speech threw light on the importance of the day. At last, the participants were rewarded by the Director of the school.
