JAMMU, Apr 12: Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab, was celebrated today with great zeal by various educational institutions across Jammu province.
Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu celebrated Baisakhi with great fervor and enthusiasm by organizing a special assembly in the school premises. The primary wing children presented scintillating dance performance on traditional Punjabi folk song while the school choir dressed in traditional costumes rendered ebullient group song on Baisakhi. Homage was also paid to Dr Br Ambedkar on his birthday.
Baisakhi was also celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm in the premises of DPS Udhampur. Tiny tots were dressed up in beautiful attires gracing the occasion. A whole set up of Punjabi culture and tradition was visible on the day. Pakhi, Madani, Manji, Chajj were displayed on stage. Vibrant and enthralling performances of Bhangra and Giddha were given by the Punjabi Gabru’s and Mutiyars of the school which mesmerized the audience.
Stephens International Public School celebrated Baisakhi with complete zeal and fervour. The school students recited Shabads taking everyone into the world of devotion and spirituality. This was followed by speeches by the students on the historical importance of Baisakhi Day. The students of the school presented a colourful cultural program. Principal, Manoj Kumar Agnihotri, explained the students the importance of the day.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (Jammu) celebrated Baisakhi with fervor and enthusiasm. The programme began with speeches by students on Baisakhi, Ambedker’s Birthday and Shab- e-Miraj too. A Rangoli competition was also held on Baisakhi theme. Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi ji threw a limelight on the relevance of this day.
A Rangoli competition was also organized at Shiksha Niketan Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, on the eve of Baisakhi. The students of 8th and 9th classes participated in the competition. The competition was won by 9th Green Class while 8th Blue Class secured position and 8th Green Class got 3rd position.
Vishwa Bharati Senior Secondary School, Akalpur Morh, Jammu celebrated Baisakhi and birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar. A special morning assembly was organized in which students performed cultural items related to Baisakhi celebration. Some students delivered speeches on Bhim Rao Ambedkar and his precious contribution in framing a vast constitution for India.
RM Public School organized a function to celebrate Baisakhi, Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti and Shab-e-Miraj. Various cultural programmes, dance programmes and other activities were presented by the students. Chairman, Rameshwar Mengi and Principal, Ravinder Kour, threw light on the importance of Baisakhi.
On the eve of Baisakhi festival, a colourful programme was organized in the premises of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani, Jammu. Students of various classes participated in the programme and displayed rich cultural heritage related to Baisakhi festival. Different songs and dances concerned with the theme were performed.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu organized a colourful programme to celebrate Baisakhi. A special assembly was organized in which the teachers highlighted the importance of the day. A “Poster Making Competition” on “Baisakhi” in which students of Classes V-VIII displayed their artistic skills through array of posters.
Dewan Devi Playway/Higher Secondary School, Rajpura celebrated Baisakhi with great pomp and show. The students of Kindergarten dressed in colourful dresses, presented a great look of the festival. Various stalls were organized by the students of 12th class. Many cultural activities were also organized. Chairman of the school, Subash Chander Suri, while speaking on the occasion, advised the students to work hard in their life.
The students and staff of Chander Bhaga High School, Akhnoor celebrated Baisakhi with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was held to mark the occasion. The celebrations began with the dance from junior wing students followed by a speech and a poem explaining the significance of the day.
Madhuvan Kids Playway, Shastri Nagar and Madhuvan Kids Primary School, Babliana, celebrated Baisakhi with enthusiasm. Children were explained about the importance of the festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture. Dhol beats and Punjabi folk music added to the excitement. Kindergarten children were dressed in colourful Punjabi traditional attires.
Indira Kids Playway School, Janipur celebrated the spring harvest season ‘Baisakhi’ with religious fervour and gaiety. Managing Director (MD), Indira Public Higher Secondary School, Janipur Sanjay Padha declared the celebrations open in presence of Principal, Rashu Padha, Coordinator, Shweta and other staff members. Toddlers attired in colourful dresses took part in various cultural activities and also danced on various bollywood and Punjabi songs.
Apple Kids International Pre School, Bantalab celebrated “Baisakhi” with fervor and enthusiasm. The school wore a festive look with compound decorated with items depicting the harvest season and heritage of Punjab. Tiny toddlers of the school were dressed up in colorful Punjabi attire and presented various performances on different Punjabi songs. The children had a lot of fun and enjoyed dancing with their teachers and friends.
Daffodils Care Convent Pre School, Jain Bazaar celebrated Baisakhi with great pomp and show in the school campus. The children were looking beautiful in the get up of peasants wearing Punjabi attires. They danced on different songs of Baisakhi. The main highlight of the celebration was the activity sheets based on the same theme. The children decorated the sheets with colors.
A special programme was organized today to celebrate Baisakhi at Doon International School. The celebration began with the recital of ‘Shabad Kirtan’ followed by the speech explaining the significance of the day. The whole school came alive with the brilliant dance performance by the middle students. An exuberant ramp walk in ethnic attire by the toddlers was the highlight of the show. Dhol beats, Punjabi folk and sweet halwa added absolute Punjabi flavour to the excitement.
Kidzee, a pre- school of Zee Learn Limited celebrated Baisakhi and birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar at its Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat branches. A special assembly was conducted in which the small toddlers actively participated in Dance and song competitions. The facilitators also gave demonstrations regarding these special occasions to the kids who were dressed up in colourful costumes.
Mount Litera Zee School, Tarore celebrated Baisakhi with great enthusiasm. A special assembly organized which consisted of thought and word of the day, Pledge, Zee Anthem, News, Rhymes, etc. The students and the teachers were dressed in typical colourful folk attire (Punjabi traditional) and danced to the tunes of Bhangra. Giddha and Bhangra on the drum beats were the main attractions of the day where everyone danced and tapped their feet on the beats of the Punjabi music.
