JAMMU, Sept 4: To pay glowing tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan, great philosopher and teacher on his birth anniversary, various educational institutions celebrated Teachers’ Day with zeal and enthusiasm.
Government College for Women, Kathua celebrated Teachers’ Day in which Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh was the chief guest. Dr Nutan Rasotra, presided over the function and highlighted the teacher’s role in guiding the students on the right path. In his address, Lal Singh also highlighted the role of teachers in developing leadership qualities among students. A scintillating programme was presented by the students of the college.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and festivity in DPS Jammu. A special assembly was organized on the occasion by the Ganga House. Floral tributes were offered to the great visionary Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan by Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra, Headmistress, Meenu Gupta, CL Malhotra, Administrator and Coordinators. All performances of the students on the stage especially for the teachers, were memorable ones. Boys and girls of class XII dressed in colourful formals assumed the role of students-teachers for this special day.
To commemorate Teachers Day, Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua organized a surprise programme for their teachers to honour them. The students presented gala show of cultural items in the form of skits, songs, dances to show their respect, gratitude and love for their teachers. The senior students were dressed up as teachers and Principal playing their roles. Students managed the classes and organized function themselves. Principal Shuchita Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated by the students and staff of Alexander Memorial School, Jammu with great zeal and gaiety. The senior students of class X managed in first half and took the classes and played the role of teachers. Several members of the management and parents of the students also graced the occasion. In the second half, the programme started with the customary prayer by Rev. Udai Singh, Presbyter-in-Charge, St. Paul’s Church, Jammu followed by a welcome address by Principal. Esther William. The Portrait of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was garlanded and rich floral tributes were paid to him. Impressive speeches were delivered by the Head Boy and the Head Girl highlighting the remarkable achievement of Dr S Radhakarishnan as a teacher, educationist, philosopher, administrator, 1st Vice President and 2nd President of India. The students of different classes presented a colourful programme. Prominent citizens namely Johnny William, IPS, Chander Gulati, ID Soni, SM Gill, HK Gosain, Andeeb Mehta, Sanjeev Vaid and many others were present on the occasion.
Under the leadership of Chairman Rameshwar Mengi and the Trustee Rita Mengi, RM Public School celebrated the Teacher’s Day on the theme of Dogra Culture. The guests for the day included prominent personalities from different spheres of like including Prof. Lalit Magotra member of Dogri Sanstha, Neelam, Principal Higher Secondary School, Satwari and Amita Sharma, President Bharat Vikas Parishad. The teachers from Shiksha Niketan were also present on the occasion. The programme highlighted the beauty of Dogra Culture. The welcome note was presented by the Principal Ravinder Kour. Cultural programme was presented by the students on the theme.
