Educational institutions, others celebrate Lohri

JAMMU, Jan 11: Many educational institutions and other organizations here today celebrated the festival of Lohri.
Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education Kathua celebrated the Lohri festival in its premises. The students enthusiastically participated in the event and sweets were exchanged among faculty members and students.
Sai Shyam Educational Society celebrated Lohri festival with fervor and gaiety. A number of students of the school and college participated in the programme. Peanuts, popcorn and sweets were distributed among the students and teachers and a bonfire was lit.
Lohri was celebrated at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School Udhampur wherein the students and teachers sang songs immersed in rich cultural charm. The students performed different types of activities like debate, poem, songs and cultural programmes. Pardeep Tripath, Prant Nirikashak; Pardeep Singh, Principal BVM Ramban; Naresh, Principal BVM Reasi; Ram Krishan, Sankul Parmukh Paddar; Dr. Vivek, Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti Member and others were also present on the occasion. Principal of the school Renu Sharma delivered the vote of thanks.
RM Public School celebrated Lohri festival and the students performed various cultural items. Chairman of the School, Rameshwar Mengi; Trustee, Rita Mengi and the Principal, Ravinder Kour distributed sweets among faculty members and students.
Lohri was celebrated at Minerva Public School, Barnoti with zeal and enthusiasm. Both the students and teachers joined to lit bonfire. Folk songs were played and peanuts, popcorn etc were distributed. Principal of the School, Ruhy Sharma extended Lohri greetings to the students and teachers.
JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School celebrated Lohri wherein the Academic Director, Rajni Gupta; Principal, Geeta Dixit and staff members of the school lit pious Lohri fire. Nuts and other eatables were distributed among students.
Mohan Singh Slathia, Sahitya Akademi awardee along with Voice of Dogra team celebrated Lohri festival at Sunrise Public School, Channi Himmat. Speaking on the occasion, Slathia talked about Dogra culture. Manpreet Kour, Founder Director of the School also spoke on the occasion and peanuts and other eatables were distributed among the students. Nirmal Khajuria (mother of Manu Khajuria, Founder of Voice of Dogra), Sahil Verma, Member Voice of Dogra; Vaibhav Sharma, Nidhi Verma, Varinder Kumar, Jyoti, Ansh, Seema Sharma, Nisha, Rita Kumari and others were also present on the occasion.
Indira Public Higher Secondary School, Shant Nagar Janipur along with Indira Kids Play Way School celebrated Lohri festival. Students presented various cultural items and danced on the tunes of Punjabi Bhangra. Managing Director of the School, Sanjay Padha was the chief guest, while Principal, Rashu Padha was the guest of honour. At the end vote of thanks was delivered by Coordinator Primary Wing, Renuka Saroch.
Nursery wing of Guru Harkrishan Public School celebrated Lohri festival with zeal. All students were happy and excited to the beats of Drum and enjoyed the traditional snacks around the bonfire which was lit by the Principal, Rita Popli.
Students of British International School, Jammu celebrated Lohri with enthusiasm. The celebration began with special assembly wherein importance of the festival was discussed. Gita Sharma, Chairman of the School lit the bonfire. Students also prepared various craft items associated with Lohri and decorated their classrooms.
KIDZEE, Pre School of Zee Learn Ltd celebrated Lohri at its branches in Anand Nagar, Bohri and Talab Tillo with great pomp and show. The function started with the special assembly after which the toddlers gathered around the bonfire and sang the traditional songs of Lohri.
Skill Sharpening Play Way School Gole Panjpeer, Talab Tillo celebrated Lohri festival and the students participated in different cultural activities. Bonfire was lit by the students and staff and eatables were distributed.
Rich Harvest School celebrated Lohri festival with the participation of School Management, Principal, staff and students with enthusiasm. The students presented song and dance performances. Principal, Anita Bhatia talked about the importance of the day.
Lalded Women Welfare Society here today staged a Nukkad Play ‘Lohri’ wherein the chief guest was Akram Khan of ‘Triple A Performing Art’. The Play was written by Surya Naryan and directed by Naveen Pal. The Play had a message that we should not forget our tradition and culture. Riya Sharma, Rishika Sharma, Tavleen Kour, Deepika Rajput, Ganesh Dutt, Sheetal and Varsha Kumari acted in the play.
