JAMMU, Nov 29: The Central University of Jammu has been selected as one of the knowledge partners of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ministry of Education (Department of School Education and literacy), Govt of India, District Samba, for Vigyanjyoti program (under DST).
Under this program, 33 girl students from Govt Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Samba, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Samba visited the Central University of Jammu to familiarize themselves with recent trends, developments, and innovations in the field of science and technology.
The students visited different state-of-the-art laboratories of different science streams to get knowledge about future aspirations in the area of science and technology at the Central University of Jammu campus. They also visited the Kalam Centre of Excellence, Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Science, Himalayan Aerosol Research Instrumentation (HARI) facility, and other important centres at the university.
During the interaction, CUJ Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain appreciated such initiatives and also motivated the girls to pursue their careers in sciences.
Dr Yashwant Singh, In-charge Registrar and Head of the Department of Computer Science and IT, briefed the students about the innovations, research centres, facilities and initiatives by the Central University of Jammu in the field of science and technology.
Dr Bhavna Arora, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event. Adrsh Bala and Rakesh Kumar from GHSS, Samba and Ashok Kumar and Vandana Sharma from JNV Samba escorted the students from their respective schools.
