Educationists from Jaipur inaugurate Mobile Computing Lab at MIET

JAMMU, Sept 7: Director, MNIT Jaipur and a renowned educationist of India, Prof IK Bhat, along with Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT, Hamirpur, LK Awasthi, visited the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) campus here today and inaugurated a Mobile Computing Lab.
The Lab, which is the first of its kind in the State was setup under financial assistance of the AICTE. The laboratory will undertake research in mobile computing and specialize in developing mobile applications which is a fast-growing industry-vertical. The lab which shall operate under the Computer Science department shall also undertake student trainings and projects in the mobile domain.
Prof Bhat appreciated the institution for taking such initiatives especially in setting up advanced technological infrastructure for both faculty and student development. Prof Awasthi too provided key inputs for the successful operation of the center.
Prof Bhat and Prof Awasthi then conducted a half-day workshop on “NBA Accreditation: Outcomes-Based Process” which is aligned with the new process of accreditation adopted in India by the National Board for Accreditation under the Washington Accord.
Over 75 faculty members from all departments at MIET attended the workshop which focused on developing the programme outcomes, educational objectives and course outcomes which are the cornerstone of the NBA process.
Earlier Principal, MIET, Prof SK Sharma, welcomed the dignitaries and expressed hope that the visit of such luminaries to MIET shall help in building both capacities and capabilities at MIET. Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET, expressed gratitude to Prof Bhat and Prof Awasthi for sparing their valuable time and mentoring MIET over the years.
