Effective monitoring mechanism in place to ensure transparency in health schemes: Shabir

JAMMU, July 10: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan today said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in implementation of health   schemes and delivery of services.
Addressing monthly review meeting of Health Department here today, Mr. Shabir exhorted upon the officers to ensure better medicare facilities to the people across the State with special focus on rural and far off areas.
The meeting was attended by Mission Director National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director AIDS, Madhu Khullar, Deputy Director (HQ), Dr. Baldev Sharma, Deputy Director, Schemes, Dr. B.S.Pathania, Deputy Director, ISM, Dr.  Controller Drugs, Satish Gupta, Medical Superintends, Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officer of various health institutions of Jammu province.
Reviewing district wise performance of health institutions, the Minister asked the health authorities to chalk out strategies to improve health scenario in the State.
The Minister also reviewed the progress on the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPRs) for the Maternity and Child Hospitals, ANMs, GNMs and proposed for different districts, sub-districts and tehsils of Jammu division. He directed the concerned that the DPRs should be prepared by the executing agency in consultation with the concerned Chief Medical Officer of the respective district.
He underscored the need to up-gradation of the existing infrastructure so that better health facilities are provided in rural pockets of the State. He also stressed  the need to organize free medical camps in rural areas for the benefit of the ailing people.
The Minister said that sufficient number of doctors and para-medical staff is being provided to the far-off health intuitions on priority to meet the health related requirements of the people of these areas. He asked the doctors to work with dedication, commitment and remain present at their respective health institutions. He said    anybody found absent from duty without proper permission would face stern action.
The Minster was apprised that the work on major development projects under the health sector was in full swing in different districts of Jammu province. The Minister asked the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of development works, adding that Government has resolved to create   dependable health infrastructure for the people across the State.
On the occasion, the Minster also released a book on PCPNDT Act.
