JAMMU, May 14: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today inaugurated newly renovated revenue complex-cum-Patwar Khana at Dablehar in Tehsil R. S.Pura.
The revenue complex was renovated by Rural Development Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 lakh under BADP.
After inaugurating the Patwar Khana, Sham said that Government was committed to provide better infrastructural facilities to the people in the State for which centre is providing liberal funding under various schemes.
On the occasion, the people of the area put forth various demands including electricity connection, furniture, drinking water and shed for public at the renovated Revenue complex.
Sham assured the people that electric work, furniture and shed with chairs will be provided soon at the newly renovated revenue complex. He said that the developmental activities initiated by the Government have changed the socio-economic profile of the people of the State especially those living in border and far-flung areas.
He also stressed the need to develop trust and maintain coordination among PRIs and administration for speedy development and better delivery of Government schemes on the ground.
On the growing need of drinking water in Jammu city, the Minister said that Government will speed up the process for the construction of Chenab drinking water supply scheme.
“The project has been proposed as a long term measure to augment the drinking water scenario in Jammu and its adjoining localities”, he added. He said presently work on 19 tubewells is under progress in Jammu city and some are in nearing completion.
He also directed the PHE authorities to increase the capacity of intake plants and complete the remaining works within a time frame period to provide safe drinking water to the people of the State.
