Srinagar, Nov 3: In a gesture of solidarity, the Srinagar-based NGO ‘Ehsaas Foundation’ has reached out to dozens of displaced Kashmiri Pandit families who lost everything in a recent fire at the Mishriwala, Purkhoo camp in Jammu.
The sudden blaze consumed their homes and belongings, leaving them with nothing. In response, the foundation established a relief camp at Bohri Kadal in Srinagar, providing essential support and fostering emotional connections within the Kashmiri community.
The affected families, already facing years of hardship in makeshift accommodations, suffered a severe blow from the fire, the foundation said.
The Foundation’s relief camp went beyond welfare distribution, embodying a collective effort from Srinagar’s citizens to assist their Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
Volunteers gathered essential items such as food, bedding, and clothing to address the immediate needs of the victims.
Among them were students and elderly residents, eager to uplift the spirits of those suffering. Counselors and therapists were also present, providing emotional support to individuals grappling with the trauma of their losses.
Ravi Kumar, a victim of the fire, expressed gratitude, stating, “This is more than just a camp; it’s a reminder that we are not alone and that people care.”
Volunteer Zahoor Malik shared his experience with the victims, stating, “Every family has a story of resilience. When we provided support, it felt like we were healing wounds that transcended physical loss. It’s about reconnecting as a community, as Kashmiris who care deeply for each other, no matter where we are.”
The relief efforts of the foundation not only provided immediate assistance but also reflected a spirit of togetherness that transcends years of conflict, highlighting the resilience and humanity at the heart of the Kashmiri identity.
