Srinagar, Oct 9: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi-the day which marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)-was today celebrated with religious gaiety while special prayers were held at all the major Masjids and shrines across Kashmir.
The entire focus during the day remained on Dargah Hazratbal where the people, including women, elderly people, and children, participated in all 5 prayers of the day with huge participation.
People from various parts of Valley thronged Hazratbal throughout the day and for them, the authorities had put in place the necessary transport arrangements as well.
After the culmination of every prayer, the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was displayed for the faithful who attended in thousands.

The management of Dargah Hazratbal said the display of the Holy Relic will continue coming Friday and that the people will have the opportunity of getting to see the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) once again.
On the occasion, as per reports, several Milad processions were taken out across Kashmir in which elders, as well as children, participated with enthusiasm, while as the religious scholars shed light on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his influence on the world history and also impressed on the need for Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to lead a better and successful life.
The officials said that apart from the necessary transport service, other facilities were also put in place to facilitate the devotees reaching the Dargah. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PK Pole said that all arrangements were put in place at Hazratbal and other shrines across Kashmir for the convenience of devotees.
“The day marks the birth of the Prophet (SAW) who taught humanity about peace and respecting human dignity,” Pole said while extending wishes to the people on the occasion.
He further said that all departments including the Power Development Department and Health Department were directed to make the necessary arrangements and everything was done as per the directives,” Pole said.
In South Kashmir, thousands of people offered special prayers on the occasion at Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan while in north Kashmir Milad procession was taken out at various places.
Meanwhile, happening for the first time, Waqf Board Chairperson, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi also took out Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) procession From Nigeen Club to Dargah Hazratbal. She was accompanied by various religious scholars. “This is the day of happiness for the world. Waqf board is meant to uphold the status of this day and we will continue to do that,” Andrabi said.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aijaz Asad also visited Dargah Hazratbal and took stock of the arrangements on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. While extending his greeting, he said that all the necessary arrangements were put in place for the convenience of people.
The Traffic Department ahead of the occasion had issued a route map to ensure a smooth flow of the traffic around Dargah Hazratbal and other parts of Srinagar city where the entire traffic coming from other parts of Kashmir, heading to Dargah, would converge.
