As the weather was clear this evening, the Shawwal moon was sighted by the people across Kashmir soon after they broke the fast. People were excited to see the Shawwal moon in Kashmir for the first time after over a decade with the naked eye as the weather on the occasion used to be overcast.
As news of the moon sighting spread, families gathered in anticipation, exchanging warm wishes and making final preparations for the Eid.
Extending his heartfelt Eidul greetings, Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam wished the Muslim Ummah, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir, a prosperous and peaceful Eid. “May this auspicious occasion bring joy, happiness, peace, and prosperity to all of us,” he said, emphasizing the significance of compassion, unity, and generosity during this special time.
Eid prayers will be held across Kashmir tomorrow morning in major shrines, Masjids and Eidgahs. However, no Eid prayers will be held at Srinagar’s main Eidgah.
