JAMMU, Mar 31: Eid-ul -Fitr, following the fasting month of Ramzan was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu region today.
There was lot of hustle and bustle in the Muslim Bastis and people attired in white dresses were rushing towards mosques and Eidgahs from early in the morning to offer special Eid prayers. In Jammu biggest congregation of Eid prayers was held at Eidgah Residency Road where hundreds of people drawn from different parts of the city offered special Eid prayers and prayed for peace and prosperity of mankind.
The administration and Waqf Board had made elaborate arrangements at Eidgah for special Eid prayers today. Tight security arrangements were also made in the area to avert any untoward incident on the occasion.
Besides, Eidgah the special Eid prayers were held at Jamia Masjid Khatika Talab, Jamia Masjid, Ustad Mohalla, Jamia Masjid near Tawi bridge, Jamia Masjids at Bhatindi, Sidhra, Sunjwan and other parts of the city and its outskirts.

The Muslim community members attired in white dresses were seen hugging, greeting and exchanging pleasantries with each other on the occasion.
The members of other communities were also seen greeting their Muslim brethern on the occasion. There was heavy rush in markets as children dressed in colourful costumes were seen busy in purchasing toys, sweets etc after getting Eidy from their parents and elders in their families.
Eid was also celebrated with great charm in Kathua where hundreds of Muslims offered Eid prayers at Eidgah in the morning. Besides, Kathua Eid Namaz was also offered in respective mosques and Eidgahs in Bani, Billawar and Basohli.
In Udhampur Eid Namaz was offered at Jamia Masjid, Adarsh Colony Udhampur in which hundreds of Muslims drawn from different parts of town participated.
In Ramban the Muslims offered Eid Namaz in Jamia Masjid Qadim and Jamia Masjid Jadeed. In Banihal and Batote special Eid prayers were held in respective Jamia Masjids by the members of Muslim community.
In Reasi the Eid prayers were held in Eidgah, Gran Morh on Jotipuram road while in Doda and Bhadarwah Namaz was offered in respective Eidgahs of the twin towns.
In Rajouri thousands of Muslims offered Eid Namaz at Eidgah and people prayed for world peace and well being of mankind. The senior civil and police officers including DC Rajouri, DIG, Rajouri and Poonch range and SSP Rajouri greeted people and distributed sweets among the children on the occasion.
The Imams in different mosques delivered lectures on the significance of fasting month of Ramzan and Eid -ul-Fitr. They said Eid comes with the message of love, brotherhood and humanity.
In Kishtwar special Eid prayers were held at Eidgah Chowgan in which thousands of Muslims drawn from different areas participated. A heavy deployment of security forces was deployed in the town on the occasion to avert any untoward incident.
Eid was also celebrated with usual fervour and gaiety in Poonch, Mendhar, Surankote and Mandi. In Poonch special Eid prayers were held in Markazi Eidgah, Poonch in which a large number of members of Muslim community offered special prayers. Elaborate security and other arrangements were made by the administration on the occasion.
