LEH, Dec 17: Eight gamblers that were engaged in illegal gambling were held today by Housing Colony Police.
“Four Individuals including 3 Nepal residents and 1 from Srinagar presently working as labourers in Leh were caught red-handed engaging in illegal gambling activities near Mazda Workshop Lane/Gali, Skalzangling,” a police official said.
He said playing cards and Rs 41,000 in cash was recovered from their possession and subsequently, a case vide FIR Number 219 U/S 13 Gambling Act was registered against them at Leh Police Station.
Similarly, the Housing Colony Police apprehended four Nepali Nationls engaged in illegal gambling near Ibex Colony, close to the ARTO office. A cash amount of Rs 26,000 was recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case vide FIR Number 220 U/S 13 Gambling Act was registered at Leh Police Station.
