Srinagar, Jan 3: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today demanded the release of the Dearness Allowance (DA) installment and an increase in the Medical Allowance.
In a statement issued here, EJAC President Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam reiterated the demands and concerns of both general employees and pensioners, cautioning the Government not to test the patience of its workforce.
“The Government, being a model employer, cannot afford to remain a mute spectator to the issues of its employees,” he said.
Shabnam highlighted the soaring prices of commodities, which have left both employees and pensioners struggling.
“The 3% DA installment remains unpaid, while market prices continue to rise,” Shabnam added.
The EJAC President expressed dissatisfaction with how these issues have been handled, emphasizing that employees are an inseparable part of the Government machinery.
He criticized the prolonged neglect of their issues, stating that it was unbecoming of an elected Government.
Shabnam further stressed that Government employees should be treated in the same manner as their counterparts in Central Government offices.
He strongly urged the Government to increase the Medical Allowance from a meager Rs 300 to at least Rs 1,000 with retrospective effect.
Shabnam also called for the regularization of temporary employees working under various titles across different departments, noting that the issue has been unresolved for decades.
The president expressed hope that the Government would swiftly address the pressing issues of employees and pensioners.
He warned that any further delay in the release of the DA installment would be an injustice to both employees and pensioners.
