SRINAGAR, Mar 9: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today demanded an immediate rollback of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and the reinstatement of the old scheme.
In this regard, a meeting was held by the EJAC at Tagore Hall, chaired by its President, Wajahat Durani.
“All participants emphasized the Government’s immediate action to end the new Pension Scheme and implement the old pension scheme so that employees appointed after 2010 in Jammu and Kashmir and their families could receive elderly support,” EJAC said.
Those who attended the meeting included Mansoor Ahmed Khan, President of the 10+2 Lecturers Forum; Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, Secretary of EJAC; Farooq Ahmed from PDD; Mudasir Mir from SMC Srinagar; Abrar Ahmad from Animal Husbandry, and Abdul Majid from LD Hospital.
It was highlighted during the meeting that recently, some employees under the NPS have retired from their jobs and “are receiving a meager amount as a pension, insufficient even for basic necessities.”
The participants urged the Government to terminate the NPS and implement the old pension scheme so that employees appointed after 2010 in Jammu and Kashmir and their families could find relief.
During the meeting, it was hoped that the Government would issue instructions for the immediate implementation of the old pension scheme without delay.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, Shoaib Munshi was appointed as the Chief Convener of the NPS J&K Unit in the EJAC.
