SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Joint Action Committee (R) today highlighted several issues facing Government employees.
A spokesperson for the committee stated that a meeting was held today, led by its president Babu Hussain Malik, along with various trade union leaders to discuss key issues affecting the 450,000 employees of Jammu and Kashmir. These issues include the regularization of casual laborers, the removal of pay anomalies, and the restoration of the old pension scheme. “The regularization of daily wagers, casual laborers, need-based workers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and employees from Agriculture, Forest, Municipal TLC, HDF, Khidmat Centers, land donors, Rehbar Khel, Rehbar Janglat, Wildlife, PHE, PDD, helpers to supervisors, and all other daily-rated workers in Jammu and Kashmir is essential,” he said.
The spokesperson emphasized their demand for the release of the GP fund, leave salary, commutation, and other pensioner benefits for retired employees that are pending at the treasuries. “We demand an enhancement of the Medical Allowance and HRA for all employees in Jammu and Kashmir to be on par with other Union Territories in the country,” he added.
He also called for the removal of pay anomalies across various cadres in different departments and the holding of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPC) for various cadres within the Jammu and Kashmir administration. “We demand the restoration of the old pension scheme and the disposal of pending cases under BRO-43,” he stated.
Additionally, he urged the creation of a separate department for the clerical cadre, similar to the Accounts and Planning cadre with a common seniority structure.
