EJAC to conduct peace march

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Employees Joint Action Committee has said that they will conduct peace march in every district of Jammu if the status quo continues and has demanded disarming of Village Defense Committees (VDCs).
In a media release, EJAC spokesman said that an emergency meeting of the body was called today under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Qayoom Wani in which all such elements were cautioned not to play dirty politics for their petty gains and were asked to desist from such mischievous acts.
EJAC appealed to the people of both the communities not to fall prey to such anti-social elements and urged them to maintain brotherhood, traditional unity and peace.
The employees’ body also expressed its anguish and dismay for anti-human, anti-peace and unwarranted, ridiculous activities of village defence committees and urged the Government to disarm them at the earliest so that people can heave a sigh of relief and satisfaction, the spokesman.
“The leaders of Jammu province of EJAC are urged to use their good offices to remain in close touch with the people so that the traditional brotherhood is maintained,” the spokesman said.
Among others who attended the meeting were Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum, Farooq Ahmad Trali, Mohd Afzal Bhat, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, Haji Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, Khalid Mehmood Khan, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Nusrat Ahmad Beigh, Farooq Ahmad Khan, Gh Mohd Hamdard, Gh Rasool Bhat, Pir Nissar Ahmad,  Mohd Rouf Wani, Sajad Ahmad Parray, Sameem Bazaz, Gh Nabi Gojri, Nissar Ahmad Rawa, Haji Zahoor Ahmad, Rajinder Singh, Nayeem Ahmad, Bilal Ahmad, Mohd Younis, Malik Fayaz, Farooq Shalimari and Manzoor Ahmad Rather.
