SRINAGAR, Oct 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), a joint platform of 26 employee’s associations and unions, representing permanent employees serving in various Government departments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today projected the burning issues of the J&K employees.
While talking to media persons, Chairman of the EJCC, Aijaz Ahmed Khan while congratulating the Omar Abdullah led Government hoped that the new popular Government in J&K will resolve the pending issues of the Government employees and workers.
Trade Union leader demanded review of cases of employees declared dead-wood. He said J&K Government terminated the services of various employees on the basis of declaring them dead-wood. The dismissed employees were not given any opportunity to state their stand regarding the allegations raised against them by the Government. The “Principle of Natural Justice” which is the right of every citizen, was not followed. It is requested that the cases of such employees be re-examined, and they should be given an opportunity to defend themselves.
Khan said many persons are working as daily rated workers in various Government departments of Jammu and Kashmir and they should be regularized. Pending their regularization, all such temporary workers should be brought under the ambit of the “Minimum Wages Guarantee Act.”
Referring to the restoration of SRO-43, Trade Union leader said that several modifications have been made in SRO- 43 during the last few years. Since it is a humanitarian/compassionate appointment, all amendments made to it need to be withdrawn immediately and SRO-43 needs to be restored to its original form. Meantime, the pending SRO-43 cases which are currently put at halt by LG administration may be resolved at an earliest.
Trade Union leader further demanded restoration of Old Pension Scheme as done in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh; timely clearance of GP Fund bills and other pension benefits to the employees including leave salary, gratuity and commutation without any delay for the welfare of such employees and their families.
Khan also demanded increase in monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers of the Social Welfare Department, at par with their counterparts working in different States/Union Territories of the country; Medical reimbursement for employees suffering from life-threatening diseases; reorganization of all Government departments and to introduce five (5) days working week in all Government departments.
