Srinagar, Aug 28: Members of the J&K Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) from diverse government departments staged a protest demonstration today, citing unprocessed GP fund cases spanning several months and asserting that outstanding dues for retired employees remain in limbo.
Scores of government employees converged at the Press Enclave, brandishing placards and vociferously expressing their grievances. They emphasized their rightful claim to GP fund disbursements and stressed that they were not seeking charity.
The simmering frustration among the employees was palpable as they vented their concerns. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman of EJCC, articulated the collective sentiment: “It is disheartening that we find ourselves enduring unnecessary distress for our own funds, locked away in the GP Fund, which has remained unprocessed for nearly five months. These funds are often urgently required by individuals during times of crisis. Yet, we are compelled to navigate a bureaucratic maze to access our own money.”
Khan also underscored the plight of daily wage workers who, he alleged, have been deprived of wages for an extended period.
“Our symbolic protest reflects our lack of alternatives. We have been left with no choice but to voice our grievances openly. We urge the Government to initiate concrete measures to redress these pressing issues.”
The protestors issued a stern ultimatum to the administration, urging immediate intervention to resolve the employees’ challenges. Failing which they would leave escalate their agitation.
