LEH, Oct 12: A symposium was organized on the topic “Empowered Women of Ladakh: A Reality or a Myth!” by the women empowerment cell at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College Leh wherein various school and colleges of the districts participated.
Mohd Shafi Lassu, Executive Councilor Higher Education LAHDC was the chief guest on the occasion. 12 speakers participated in the competition.
The symposium was categorized in two levels of school and college among the 12 participants. In the school level competition the 1st prize was shared by Kunsang Dolker and Rigzin Yangdol of J N V Leh, second prize was bagged by Deachen Chuskit of Boys Higher Secondary School and Deachen Spalzes of K V Leh bagged the 3rd prize.
In the college level competition: Jigmet Rinchen of Government Polytechnic, Leh bagged the 1st prize, Tsering Dolker of CIBS bagged the 2nd prize and 3rd prize was bagged by Disket Dolker of E J M College Leh. Also two consolation prizes were given to Leela Bee of Govt Degree College Kargil and Jigmet Otzer of E J M College Leh.
Principal Dr S K Magotra addressed the students and participants and emphasized on importance of organizing such an event and lauded the participants for coming forward and sharing their views on the topic.
The chief guest gave an inspiring speech and congratulated the college for organizing such an event of significance and praised the participants for showing great enthusiasm.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Disket Angmo, convener, organizing committee.
