JAMMU, June 13: Jammu Municipal Corporation has planned elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims arriving here for Amarnath Yatra, which is commencing from June 30.
“The whole focus of our planning is on user experience – safety, security, sanitation, and inclusiveness. We want to give visitors an experience that they have not had at previous Amarnath Yatras,” said JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, while addressing a press conference along with Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma and others.
In this connection, he elaborated, JMC shall ensure installation of bins for dry and wet waste segregation at camps, langar halls, etc, collection and transportation of the Municipal Solid Waste in partitioned & covered vehicles, deployment of sanitation workers in three shifts for brooming and Municipal Solid Waste collection, etc.
Deputy Mayor informed that a detailed IEC (Information, Education & Communication) Plan has been approved by Commissioner JMC, to educate and emphasize citizen’s focus to make the Amarnath Yatra 2022, a Swachh Yatra.
For the awareness in this regard, there shall be Awareness Kiosks, hoardings, flexes etc while a detailed desludging plan has also been prepared by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
“Four vehicles would be dedicated to de-sludging operations in the existing locations, during the Yatra while rest of the four de-sludging vehicles would be dedicated for vendor’s locations,” explained the Dy Mayor, adding that five private de-sludging operators, which are already registered with JMC, would be kept in standby in case of emergency.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee – Hardeep Singh Mankotia, Chairman Social Justice – Ajay Gupta, Joint Commissioner Administration, JMC – Pankaj Gupta, Health Officer JMC – Dr Vinod Sharma and Secretary JMC – Atul Kumar.
