JAMMU, Dec 2: An elderly man today committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Jourian area of Akhnoor.
According to a police spokesman, the man identified as Onkar Singh (70) son of Godavar Singh, resident of Jourian, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence this morning following which family members shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
“However, the man passed away at about 7 pm”, he said, adding, the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem while Jourian police had taken cognizance of the matter.
