UDHAMPUR, Nov 26: Under mysterious circumstances an elderly woman and her daughter in law consumed some poisonous substance at their house in Ramnagar leading to death of the former while condition of the latter was also stated to be critical.
The incident took place at village Incha, under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar Police Station, last night.
According to Police, Kholi Devi (65), wife of Shonku Ram and her daughter-in-law Shakina Devi (35), wife of Sabash, resident of village Incha in Ramnagar, consumed some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at their residence when no other family member was at house.
After condition of the duo deteriorated, they were rushed to Sub District Hospital Ramnagar by their neighbours. During treatment, Kholi Devi died while doctors referred Shakina Devi to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of her serious condition.
SHO Ramnagar, Sohan Singh said that a case has been registered in this connection for further investigation. Exact reason behind consuming the poisonous substance is yet to be ascertained even as preliminary investigations hint that the duo had mistakenly consumed the insecticide.
