Elected leaders responsible for neglect of Ramban: Manjit

RAMBAN, Sept 4: Expressing dismay over underdevelopment, Apni Party, Provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh has held previous Govts and elected local representatives responsible for backwardness in Ramban district.
Manjit Singh chaired a meeting of active party leaders and workers in Ramban district. During this meeting, many people joined Apni Party.

Prominent among those who joined Apni Party includes Karpal Singh, Farooq Ahmed, Mohd Hamid, Muzaffar Ahmed, Rikam Singh, Shamash Din, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Imran Ahmed Shan, Sajad Ahmed Ganaie, Mehrban Ahmed, Zeeshan Ahmed, Mohd. Ayoub and others.
Welcoming them into the party, he said that the previous Govts and elected representatives have failed to do justice with the people in Ramban and its villages which is evident from the backwardness and underdevelopment despite having potential to attract tourism and have adequate employment generation opportunities.
He said that the local youth whether skilled or unskilled are allegedly denied job opportunity in the ongoing projects like railways, highways and power projects.
“I am told that the skilled and higher posts being given to the outsiders who have been imported to the districts from parts of the country. The educated and skilled youth who should have been given priority were ignored which has given rise to resentment among the people,” he said.
The highway widening work has made the life of people miserable living along the highway as many houses have developed cracks in several areas and some are still waiting for compensation, he said.
He further said that soil erosion is another problem being faced by Ramban, Banihal and other areas along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway due to unplanned and unscientific cutting of mountains. “These unscientific means may attract a disaster for the locals who live here from centuries. The beautiful mountains have lost their green gold in some of the areas and soil erosion has become one of the biggest problems in Ramban district,” he said.
Meanwhile, the local leaders of the District highlighted issues of the people in the district.
Those who also spoke on the occasion include Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, State SC Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat, Provincial secretary Mohammed Aslam Malik, State president, Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi, State youth wing vice president, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan and Coordinator Chenab belt Umar Malik.
