Electoral Rolls for ULB elections soon: CEO

SRINAGAR, July 9: Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu today discussed issues related to the preparation of the electoral rolls to be used for the elections to the Urban Local Bodies in the State.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Rishpal Singh, Additional SIO J&K, Saleem Khan, Secretary SMC Srinagar, Hilal Ahmad Deewani and other officials of the Elections Department and Municipal Corporation Srinagar besides representatives from the Roll Vendors of the department M/s TJ Enterprises and M/s Comptech Pvt Ltd.
The Chief Election Officer asked the Additional SIO NIC J&K who is looking after the Electoral Roll Management System (ERMS) Project of the State to provide the updated data of the electoral rolls along with all the supplements to the concerned vendors for printing of the electoral rolls. After printing, the rolls will be provided to all the Electoral Registration Officers of the Municipal Corporations / Councils / Committees for polling stations wise and ward wise mapping. The bifurcated electoral rolls will be again printed and placed before the electors as draft roll for the purpose of summary revision.
The Chief Electoral Officer stressed upon all the concerned officials and non-officials to start their allotted work immediately so that it is completed as per schedule.
