For the last nine years, the only electric crematorium in Jammu and Kashmir at Jogi Gate in Jammu is in non functional mode while Jammu Municipal Corporation is planning to set up as many as four such crematoriums in the city, at Jogi Gate, Channi, Shastri Nagar, and Shakti Nagar cremation grounds. This is a step taken in right direction looking to the hassles free process of cremation through such crematoriums run either with the LPG or electric power as compared to traditional methods of using fire-wood for the same.
Since the lone crematorium at Jogi Gate, Jammu which was used but sparingly owing to non popularity from the public but installed at substantial cost towards which local charitable organisations also contributed , cannot be repaired at this stage due to extensive damage caused to it due to being not used and maintained , setting up newer ones is the only option. Environmentally friendly and cost wise totally comparatively economical, adaptability to this alternative scientific method was necessary and in tune with demanding circumstances.
