JAMMU, June 11: All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union here today held a meeting which was chaired by Ashiq Hussain, Union president.
Speakers in the meeting demanded benefits as are available to their counterparts in Kashmir.
They said that ex-gratia relief in cases if deaths as well as accidental insurance cases of linemen who laid their lives at the time of execution of works should be considered.
Their other demands included implementation of SRO 59 in respect of all eligible candidates working in the department, welfare fund to the families whose bread earner (linemen) are expired, designation of the officials as per assignment of works and regularization of daily wagers who have worked for more than seven years as per the existing norms of the department.
The Union members urged upon the J&K LG and MD of Power Development Corporation Ltd to concede their demands.
Anil Slathia, Vijay Gupta, Tara Chand, Kartar Nath, Surinder and others were also present in the meeting.
