Electric wires hang on trees, not poles

DODA, Jan 13: Residents are living under threat of getting electrocuted as the electric wires are hanging on trees and not on poles in Garh area of Tehsil Kastigarh.
Sarpanch Kastigarh (A) Qutab Din while talking to the Excelsior said that at many places, high and low voltage electric wires are hanging on the trees, which pose a threat to the lives of people.
“It shows the callous attitude of the Power Development Department (PDD) on the ground viz safety of the people”, he added.
Another resident said that most of the wooden poles installed in the area decades ago were damaged and instead of installing new cement or iron poles, PDD officials choose to hang wires on trees, thereby putting the lives of people to risk.
“We approached PDD officials many times to install iron or cement poles in the area, but they don’t pay any heed to our demand”, he said, adding that ‘we regularly pay electric bills but PDD is not installing electric poles properly’.
The residents warned to come on road if PDD failed to installed cemented or electric poles in their area.
