Electrical Enggs seek LG’s intervention in their issues

JAMMU, July 24: All J&K Electrical Engineering Graduates Association has urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to address the pending issues of the electrical engineers of Power Development Department/ Corporations.
In a memorandum flashed to the Lt Governor the Association said that they are an association of all engineers of PDD now working on deputation basis to various Power Corporations of J&K Power Development Department. The hapless engineers are today deeply perturbed by the continued neglect by the Government towards their future prospects.
They pointed out that regularization of Power Engineers has been pending since so many decades but as a ray of hope, the then State Administrative Council of J&K on Oct 22, 2019 approved the regularization proposal of Power Engineers.
“SAC directed that the proposal for Regular Promotion in the Engineering cadre of the Power Development Department be processed for consideration of the Competent Authority in the Government through the Establishment-cum-Selection Committee, without reference to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, as a onetime exception. SAC further directed that the process be completed by 30.11.2019.” However, despite lapse of three and a half years, the decision is yet to see the light of the day.
All the present Chief Engineers of PDD are substantive Assistant Engineers and all the present SEs of PDD are either substantive Assistant Engineers or Junior Engineers. The shocking aspect of the present set-up of PDD is that all the Power Engineers working in the capacity of Executive Engineers, AEE and AEs are retiring as Junior Engineers. The Power Engineers of J&K fail to understand the attitude of the Government of the day where the Engineers working in PWD(R&B) and Jal Shakti Department have been regularized upto the last levels and all the present Engineers of PWD(R&B) and JSD are working on substantive posts whereas the Power Engineers for whom a onetime exception was accorded by the then SAC, are yet await regularization.
They said two posts of MDs, 4 posts of EDs, 5 posts of Chieg Engineers, 14 posts of SEs,, 62 posts of Executive Engineers, 134 posts of AEEs, 167 posts of AEs and 333 posts of JEs lying vacant as on date in the PDD/Power Corporations but authorities are not filling up these vacancies. The Power Engineers have sought personal intervention of Lt Governor into the mater.
