Electricity affected in Samba as Power House submerges in rain water

SAMBA, July 2: Samba Power House got submerged in the rain water last night due to which the electricity was affected for about 11 hours in the area.
As the Power House is situated adjacent to the Jammu -Pathankot National Highway, the drains built on the side of the Highway got blocked due to heavy rainfall and the rain water entered the Power House with the result it got submerged in the water.
The water level kept increasing and water accumulated up to three to four feet. The electricity workers on duty immediately switched off the power from the Grid Station and started waiting for the water to subside. After some time, the Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, Varinder Paul Singh reached the spot with his team and cleaned the drain with the help of JCB and started taking out the water accumulated in the Power House.
After that, other workers of the Electricity Department also reached the spot and they repaired the equipment damaged by rain water and restored the electricity. Due to the power cut, Kehli Mandi, Chak Manga Rakwal, Ward No. 13, Bus Station, Link Bazaar, Ward No. 4, Ward No. 5, Ward No. 3 and District Hospital Samba were also affected. Due to the power cut, people had to face a lot of problems and patients who came to the district hospital for treatment also had to face a lot of trouble, although the generator was running in the Hospital.
