NAGROTA, Sept 16: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that emergence of divisive and disruptive forces will defeat the very idea of secular and forward looking Jammu and Kashmir and urged people to isolate the vicious elements by maintaining unity.
“Unity in diversity has been the real strength of this unique state that has braved turbulent tides during most testing times but still kept the flag of pluralistic ethos aloft”, he said and hoped the people will maintain their glorious traditions at all costs by isolating elements inimical to peace and harmony.
The Provincial President was addressing a workers rally at village Narayan Khoo in the Nagrota Assembly constituency.
Mr Rana referred to the attempts being made by the self centered and disruptive forces like Bharatiya Janata Party and People’s Democratic Party in creating an atmosphere of mistrust and hatred by dividing the people on communal lines. “While taking opposite lines publicly over the issues confronting to the State, the two parties are actually working in tandem to further their nefarious agenda”, he said, adding that the bonhomie of the two got exposed in Kishtwar where these parties worked overtime to sabotage peace efforts.
The Provincial President asserted that National Conference will foil the attempts of those believing in divide and rule and bringing people face to face in the name of religion and region. However, he cautioned them to guard against the machinations of the frustrated elements, who he said, could go to any extent in view of the forthcoming elections.
Differentiating between the political philosophy of National Conference and the Opposition, he said his party places the interests of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh above everything else while BJP and PDP believe in short cuts to power. In hot pursuit of lust for power, the two parties can go to any extent, he said, adding that their misadventure may get further impetus with hardcore elements taking over the reins of the main opposition in the country.
The Provincial President asked his party workers to close rank and file and fight these elements tooth and nail to save the State from uncertainty and instability. He said negativism has hugely jeopardised the public interest and retarded the overall growth of the State.
The Provincial President exhorted his party workers to educate the people about behind-the-seen attempts of communal and regional forces to disturb peace. He also urged them to fan out in their respective areas and help people solve their problems. He said, National Conference will perform its crucial role as a bridge between the people and the administration and endeavour for enhancing their living standard by ensuring basics of life at their doorsteps.
