JAMMU, Sept 30: In an endeavour to further improve the emergency services in Government Medical College Jammu, an Emergency Trauma Course (ETC) was conducted today in the Skill Lab of GMC Jammu.
The course was inaugurated by Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, who said that such structured courses really help in improving the patient care and outcome in the emergency. He said that all the staff members dealing with emergency cases should be uniformly trained as per standards and the organizers should strive to get the training course affiliated with the International bodies for widespread recognition.
Dr Narinder Bhatyal (Medical Superintendent, GMCH Jammu) said that there is no dearth of resources and trainings and teamwork really make a huge difference in the overall management of trauma patients.
The course was attended by 30 Residents from the Department of Surgery, Orthopaedics and Anaesthesia. The course content is at par with the ATLS course which is run in America and consisted of interactive lectures and Skill Stations.
The course was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr Ratnakar Sharma (HoD Surgery), Dr Sanjeev Gupta (HoD Orthopedics) and Dr Anju Jamwal (HoD Anaesthesia) while Dr Anita Vij (Professor Anaesthesia) and Dr Kailash Singh (Associate Prof Surgery) were the convener and co-convener, respectively.
Dr Abdul Ghani (Professor Orthopedics) was the co-ordinator for the course while Dr Madan Katoch (Prof of Anaesthesia), Dr Ashwani (Prof of Anaesthesia), Dr Shruti, Dr Mushtaq, Dr Naine Bhadralla, Dr Neha Sharma and Dr Updedh (Associate Professors, Anaesthesia), Dr Bias Dev Associate (Professor, Orthopaedics), Dr Anchal Gupta (Associate Professor, Radiology), Dr Sanjay Sharma (Associate Professor, Surgery) and Dr Manish Singh (Assistant Professor, Orthopaedics) were the faculty for the Course.
