Eminent, local artists mesmerize audience

JAMMU, Feb 24: Day 9 of SaMaPa Aalap Festival witnessed a beautiful mix of young talent sharing a common stage with eminent maestros of the country.
The concert at Lawrence Public School, Sidhra was witnessed by large number of  people including  children and music lovers.
The ongoing 10th annual edition of prestigious SaMaPa Aalap Festival by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) is being presented in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Jammu, Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and Department of Information & Public Relations, J&K.
Akarshit Mehra, a young talent from Jammu making his debut as a child Sitar player presented Raga Yaman. He was accompanied by Chanchal Singh on Tabla, another young talent from Jammu. Akarshit commenced his brief recital with short Aalap and a Gat in Teentaal followed by few taan patterns and tehais and concluded the recital with Jhalla. This was followed by performances of 2 young budding artists. Paras Kumar presented 2 Ghazals. This was followed by Sufi vocal by Vickey Sarang. Paras and Sarang were accompanied by brilliant young musician Abid Hussain on Sarangi, and Bua Ditta on Harmonium and Rampal on Tabla, both renowned artists of Jammu.
The concert was attended by Prof. Aparna Sopori, Wing. Cmd. MM Joshi, Founder Principal Shakuntala Joshi, Shivani Joshi, Manish Joshi, Padmashri S.P. Varma, Vice President Gandhi Global Family, Jagdeep Kaur, Renowned singer Smt. Jatinder Kour, Prof. Romila Guleria, HOD Music, GCW Parade, Prof. Anupama Sharma, Prof. Jasmeet Kaur and a number of PG Students of music.
In another concert held at Ammucare, the renowned Sufi singer Ragini Rainu along with Aman Nath on Keyboard and electronics and Chanchal Singh on Tabla mesmerized the audience. The concert was specially organized for underprivileged children.
The 10th SaMaPa Aalap Festival, which is now reaching its concluding phase will now feature concerts in various Border areas like R.S. Pura, Rajouri and Poonch featuring concert by a number of State musicians, eminent maestros and others.
