Srinagar, July 7: State employees will go on one-day pen-down strike tomorrow to press the Government to implement the agreement inked between them and the latter in 2011.
The agitating employees will march towards the Civil Secretariat from Khalsa High School for a protest, while the employees from Jammu region will protest in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s office and the Secretariat employees will protest inside the premises, a statement of the employees association said.
The agitating employees under the banner of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of several employees unions, are demanding extension of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularization of daily wagers and removal of pay anomalies, besides budgetary support for Public Sector Undertakings.
Senior JCC leader and president Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-Q) Abdul Qayoom Wani said the employees only want the State Government to implement the September 15, 2011 agreement between the employees’ leadership and the Government. “The Government will have to meet our demands; only then we will give up our protest program. We are left with no option but to continue our struggle till our demands are met,” he said.
